WHEREAS, God, who is the author of the universe, views his creation as being very good, and
WHEREAS, The Scriptures confront us with our responsibility to God as stewards, and
WHEREAS, We have recently been made more conscious of our selfish and nearsighted use of our resources;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That we ask the forgiveness of God and our fellow men for the selfish use of God’s creation, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That we assume our individual and corporate responsibilities as faithful stewards by establishing personal, family, business, civic, and church priorities in the conservation of our resources, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That we urge Congress and concerned governmental agencies to take aggressive action to conserve our diminishing resources, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Christian Life Commission and other appropriate agencies of the Southern Baptist Convention be encouraged to publicize this position and to educate our churches in the Christian stewardship of God’s earth.
